I can re member the days gone by
Me and me dad and me mam
On warm summer mornings
we'd wait at the stop
Listening for the sound of the tram
Clattering along from
them tracks of steel
Sparks flying, ye, it were grand
On down the hill it would
squeak to a stop
Conductor would give us a hand
We would travel to town on the tram
Me and me Dad and me Mum
While the whistling conductor
would whistle away
As we travelled to town
on the tram car
Travelled to town on the tram
I looked at conductor so longingly
In truth I were quite mesmer ised
His uniform cap and the ticket ma chine
were magic to my little eyes.
He'd smile at me and say, come along,
we can't have you left at the stop.
Step on the platform and
climb up the stairs,
there's plenty of room on the top.
We would travel to town on the tram,
me and me dad and me mum,
while the whistling conductor
would whistle away,
as we'd travel to town on the tram car,
travel to town on the tram.
Once up the stairs and we'd settle down,
me and me dad and me mam.
We could see rooftops all over the town,
riding along on the tram.
Dad would say,
look there's the town all popped,
over them chimney pots there.
I felt important on top
of the world,
there's nothing could ever compare
To when we travelled to
town on the tram,
me and me dad and me mam
While the whistling conductor
would whistle away
As we travel to town on the tram car
Travel to town on the tram
Travel to town on the tram car
Travel to town on the tram
