Isn't that what it ends?
They got back together
and she told him about the song
and he never liked us before
and he still doesn't like us. What do think,
a couple more of this set?
Sure.
Give a nut break? Yeah.
G
Okay, well one of the ways that we
Thanks. Anyway,
we used to play a lot in Carroll County,
which is where the Howe Caps
are from.
G
You're the only one cheering,
that was weird.
Carroll County, Iowa.
And for the longest time,
whenever we would play in that
county specifically,
pretty much at any show,
someone would come up
and they would have a flask
of this bootleg whiskey
from Carroll County,
from Templeton, Iowa
and they would be like hey you have
to try this whiskey
and you try it
and your fingertips would go numb
instantly and you know your nose burn
and but it never just came
it never came just as just a sip
it always came as a sip with a story
and it was so -and -so's
uncle you know was bootlegging
the stuff in 1930
and they got run off the road
and they saved the whiskey
but they had to walk four miles
stuff like that
and so years ago when we
were playing there
I started sort of being obsessed
with this story and the whiskey
and sort of started collecting it
and then for about three records
I was like we gotta write this
Templeton Rye song
and put it on this record
and we tried a couple times
and failed and skipped it
went to the next record
and anyway this song could be
an hour long
for all the stories that I've gathered
now over the years
and it's still an obsession
of mine
but here is the five -minute version
of the song Temple to Rye
about some bootleg whiskey from Iowa.
Which supposedly, allegedly,
there might be a tiny bit of it here tonight.
I don't know that for a fact.
It's all about who you eat.
All right.
