Well, back in that church in
Basing
Street
Studios, the church that was,
we said about this one with,
well, I said about it with some foreboding because
touching upon religion is always
going to upset some people and offend many
as it did in the
Bible
Belt of
North
America
when I seem to recall reading that some folks thought
that I was anti -Christian and anti -God
and they got that from the lyrics,
so it's my fault if I wasn't clear enough, but I thought I
was kind of making a
different kind of a point.
But some people
got the wrong end of the stick.
And so they actually burnt copies
of the
Aqualung album
on the bonfires of religious righteousness.
But I've also had over the years a lot
of really interesting,
quite nice correspondence
from a number of clergymen of different faiths,
different backgrounds, different colors,
different colors, too.
And they've also been
quick to point out
that they were,
as perhaps teenagers before they
went into the church they'd heard this and they
they did get the right idea
about it so there's actually really a pro
-God and slightly cynical look at
organized religion but forgive me
if it offends anybody it was a long time ago I
choose my words with more care these
days knowing how sensitive some people
can be
