When I was born,
my lucky star said
I would travel fast and far.
In twenty years I calculate,
I ain't been out of the
Lone Star State.
There's things right here
that grade my hair,
hump my back and made me stare.
It's true I've never covered ground,
but brother, I've really been around.
I froze to death in Amarillo
on the desert's burnin' sand
I got lost on Devil's River
with a guitar in my hand
I picked fruit in the Magic Valley,
shot wild deer on the wing
I've never been out of Texas,
but I've seen everything
I busted cattle on the old 3 -D
and a bulldog ponies too
Sung a few songs on the radio
for neighbors just like you
Well I got my tan in Corpus Christi,
I've really had my fling
I've never been out of Texas,
but I've seen everything
I'm to ahead degrees for 20 until
I drilled for oil in Grand Saline
and spent my money free
But I found out that drilling wells
was not the life for me
Instead of a gusher,
the well poured in the
derndest thing I'd seen
It was five pound bags of Morton salt,
now I've seen everything
So why should I spend my dough
to roam around this world?
I can stay right here at home
and get my toenails curled
I've done my traveling all in Texas,
that is why I sing
I've never been out of Texas,
but I've seen everything
